There are various medications used for the treatment of intolerable pain that one develops after life-threatening surgeries, injuries, osteoarthritis etc. For treating such intolerable pain doctors prescribe non opioid based painkillers to avoid any side effects. But when non opioid based painkillers become ineffective they prefer prescribing roxicodone. It is an opioid formulated drug and contains oxycodone hydrochloride, known to be a potential opioid agonist. This drug is harmful if used for a longer run as it has the potential for addiction. Doctors generally recommended to not  use it for acute pain.

Thus, government has recommended doctors and other health care professionals to look up for patient history for any substance use. Patients with a history of substance abuse should be generally avoided giving opioid medicines to avoid any additions problem.

Roxicodone is an FDA approved drug but comes under black box warning. It’s very harmful if not consumed under doctor’s guidance. It can damage one’s liver, kidney and even lead to cardiovascular problems. Never mix alcohol and other sedative drugs along with Roxicodone as it may affect the central nervous system.
